Nature and the landscape were not only second part of this article examines the characteristics and the use of the connection between the natural heritage and the nation in the Dutch nature conservation and landscape preservation movement in the early 20th century.  This article is part of the special issue 'Landschap, natuur en nationale identiteit'.
