Description
Summary:The article is divided into two sections. In the shorter first part, the author analyses the importance of Homer in the schools of Rhetoric of late Antiquity (in particular, the School of Gaza) as a model for Progymnasmata and Declamations. Such borrowings come from a close reading of the original text, resulting from the work in the schools themselves by the rhetoricians with their students. In the second section, the author analyses an example of this activity and shows how Choricius of Gaza reworked Homeric material in his Patroclus (op. XXXVIII F. / R.).
