The main aim of the research was to see if the Romanians are still keeping their national, social and cultural identity, even if they are living in a foreign country for more than a year. According to statistical data, over 3.5 million Romanians have migrated to other countries, especially to Western Europe, searching for a better life, for better work and living conditions. From the results of our researches we may conclude that the “uprooting drama” and the “homesickness” represent the two main feelings that Romanians experience when they are far away from their native places. In this way, we may consider that is very important to understand the cultural patrimony that they have helped them to integrate in the new societies. In the first part of our study we have defined the main concepts and we have also described the methodology of our research on the immigrants from England. The second part of the article presents the most important conclusions of the quantitative research on the Romanians who are living, studying and working in England. https://arsociologie.ro/revistasociologieromaneasca/sr/article/view/384society of immigrationcultural identitysocial identitytypes of cultural identity |
