For O. Spengler, the soul of the Russian culture is still developing, while for F. M. Dostoevsky, it is the genius “of the Russian people”. The authors emphasize the predominance of femininity in Russia, associated with the cult of the earth-mother and the cult of the Virgin. The idea of freedom (N. A. Berdyaev) is intertwined with the idea of unity. It is noted that the uniqueness of the soul of the Russian culture is its “screaming” heterogeneity, “the great gap” between the desired and the actual, self-exaltation and humiliation, Holiness and sin.
