| Summary: | This article seeks to synthesize the contributions of Hausmann et all (2005), Hidalgo et al (2007) and Hidalgo and Hausmann (2009) to the literature on economic development with the creation of the product space and the economic complexity index, explaining what are the its main implications. Nevertheless, we present four of the main research agendas involving economic complexity, vis a vis, as a variable to represent structural change, as a variable of sophistication in international trade and regional economy, literature on inequality and as an aid in the instrumentalization of public policies. |
