Summary:Product Development Process (PDP) is a business process that formalizes the activities for the development of products and services. The organization of this process contributes to product quality improvement and to the reduction of costs turning companies more agile and competitive. The aim of this paper is to compare the PDP model used by a company leader in branch automotive diagnostic with a reference model for product development developed for companies for goods and services. Based on this comparison, a critical evaluation of the PDP model adopted by the company was performed and improvements were proposed. This article presents the analysis of the PDP of a company in the automotive sector. Many companies aiming to adapt the reference discussed models in the literature necessitate analyze and adapt the models to the company¿s reality. A critical analysis of the positives and negatives enables companies in adaptation the best practices in the models proposed in the literature.
