Description
Summary:From the end of the 18th century, along with the modern educational system, the reception of the ancient Greek culture arrived to Serbia. This image of the classical past was heavily influenced by the wider social and political circumstances of the time. Along with the organizational and pedagogical principles, the pioneers of education and the founders of academic disciplines among the Serbs took over the Western narrative on Classical Greece, unintentionally including its ideological foundation. After this so-called "phase of institutionalization", continuous reproduction of this narrative took place through the educational system. The consequence is that in the contemporary Serbian education the examples of the 19th century theoretical concepts are almost perfectly preserved.
