The article describes the basic models of gender linguistics highlighting both the defectiveness of female speech, gender inequality, which are reflected in the subordinate social status of women and the dominant status of men, and the dynamics of gender differences in male and female speech behaviour. At the same time gender is considered as a socio-cultural category acting as a product of discourse constructed in the process of communication. The emphasis is on such indicators of speech dominance as interruptions, overlaps, seizing the initiative, topic change, asking for information, expressing disapproval, discontent in verbal interaction. This paper aims to explore and analyze the ways of communicative dominance in male and female speech behaviour in the English-language interview discourse. It is identified that in female speech of the interview discourse the typical tactics of communicative dominance are interruptions, asking for information, assertion of the leading position, expression of disapproval and negative evaluation. These indicators can demonstrate the dynamics of gender differences and the formation of the dominance model in female speech resulting from the socio-cultural changes.http://philjournal.ru/upload/2018-3/54-60.pdfgender communicative differencescommunicative dominancemale and female speech behaviourdynamics of gender differencesinterview discourse |
