Description
Summary:This article focuses on a form analysis of one of Gheorghe Neaga’s last works. With a bipartite cyclical structure, String Quartet No.3 fits perfectly into the category of demonstrating opuses for removing from the foreground of the classical quadrature specific to the quartet genre and replacing its importance with various other means of high artistic thinking and conceptualization of music. Thus, focusing on a modal language, the author also avoids the usual patterns for the inner forms of the parts of a quartet. In addition, Gheorghe Neaga doesn’t adapt the content to stunning developments, but gives his preference for heterophony, and the modal relations are integrated in the chromatic totality, so that the sound universe of the work gets a significant complexity.
