Description
Summary:This paper outlines the challenges faced by the Colombian state considering three variables that directly affect the evolution of the internal conflict in Colombia: first, the left’s ideological crisis in the post cold war period; second, the polemic distinction of current subversive groups between “rebels” or “criminals”, proposed by authors like Paul Collier; and third, the challenges that lie ahead for the Colombian state in the postagreement with the Farc guerrilla: i) the deepening of the social contract, ii) the redefinition of state as a political actor that assumes transborder cooperation strategies with regard to the post-agreement and iii) the opening up of the political system and the deepening of democracy.
