Recently, we experienced a case of XDR typhoid fever in a 4-year-old unvaccinated girl who contracted it during her visit to Pakistan in the summer of 2019, improved with meropenem and azithromycin. This is the first reported case of paediatric XDR typhoid diagnosed and treated in the UAE.
