Summary:The paper analyzes the main factors that contributed to improving the general education potential of residents agricultural areas of Kuzbass in the 1930s – early 2000s. Particular attention is paid to the development of school infrastructure, improvement of the educational process, provision of educational institutions teaching staff. The authors conclude that the peculiarities of education in agrarian territories influenced the slowdown in educational level of rural popula tion.
