Evidences were found tlîat heat redistribution in some areas within the basin affected the local microclimate, impacting land by favoring desertification processes. The study used information from 1972 land-use maps and a 1998 Landsat satellite image to establish general trends in plant-cover changes. Additionally, time-series modelling and statistical analyses of temperature and rainfall were conducted for five meteorological stations located within the basin´s influence area with historical records since 1958.http://www.investigacionesgeograficas.unam.mx/index.php/rig/article/view/59165
