Description
Summary:Since the beginning of 2017, Donald Trump has become the 45th president of the United States. During his campaign, the Republican has promised to break up with the traditional American foreign policy. He condemns the military interventions in Irak and Libya, and promises a more reserved foreign policy and only conditioned by the absolute primacy of American interests. He wants a rapprochement with Russia, criticises the NATO and the European Union. The United States have been particularly present in the region of Western Balkans since the NATO interventions in Bosnia‑Herzegovina and in Kosovo. Through this article, we propose to determine what could be the American foreign policy in the Western Balkans under the presidency of Donald Trump. Actually, the region is currently caught by a battle of power between Russia, the European Union, but also other states.
