Aerial figures performed in a confined space (referred to as a ‘box’) are a challenge not only for the pilots, but also for the jury evaluating the competition. Subjective scores of the judges are converted by a dedicated FPS (Fair Play System) system. FPS is the basis for the ACRO scoring software (Aerobatic Contest Result Organizer) used to convert and publish the results of aerobatic contests organized worldwide. Due to the multi-aspect nature of data processing, the system is not always understood by the players. The paper attempts to explain various stages of calculations and explore issues associated with standard judging. This aspect is extremely important, not only for the competing pilots, but also for the judges and the viewers.https://doi.org/10.1515/jok-2017-0042aerobaticsdata processing softwarejudging the aerobatics competition
