| Summary: | The subject of the research in this article is the genealogy of the concept of biopolitics, traced in the substantive development of this concept in the works of a number of key thinkers. The author believes that all the variety of modern publications devoted to the actual problem of biopolitics and bio-power, according to their initial settings and intentions can be reduced to four research projects - "biopolitics" by M. Foucault, "homo sacer" by J. Agamben, "Empire" by M. Hardt and A. Negri, "homo laborans" by H. Arendt, - which set the conceptual framework for the analysis of this problem. The main conclusion of the study is the statement that the concept of biopolitics, as it was formed in the works of the founders of this direction of socio-philosophical and other analysis, is inherently a negative (critical) version of social ontology, since the statement of biological processes of society as its basis actually contradicts the principle of human sociality.
