Summary:The discussion about the freewill and determinism controversyin human behavior is an old one in philosophyand psychology. Despite the fact that discussions on thetopic are abundant, some of its implications seem to gounnoticed by psychologists, and especially by studentsof psychology. We argue that to the same extent that apsychologist is far from the determinism he imposes - apriori and unnecessary-constraints on the developmentof psychology as a science and profession. As a result,we suggest that the adoption of determinism as a workinghypothesis, is an important attitude for the transformationof psychology into a more effective scienceand profession.
