Summary:The article describes the experience that meant the creation of the documentary: «Calles de mi barrio» (Streets of my neighborhood). The documentary emerged as the product of historical research methodology teaching young people, between 12 and 14 years of age, enrolled in secondary education. The proposal developed within an educational institution of the Piedras Blancas in Montevideo neighborhood, during the year 2012, proposed study an element belonging to the everyday life of students as the street where they lived. Research on the street name, its reason, previous denominations, changes that occurred in it and the neighborhood promoted the access of students to various historical sources, as written, icono-graphic, oral, as well as the creation of one in particular.Seeks, from a teaching perspective, share reflections on how is apprehended the methodo-logy of historical research by teens, What was the construction of the historical account that existed in the documentary, How were the testimonies and which students understood them-selves as historical subjects.
