Summary: |
The purpose: to prove diagnostic capabilities of modern radiation techniques in odontogenic maxillary sinusitis. Material and methods: The study involved 546 patients with sinusitis. The following methods have been used: X-ray of the paranasal sinuses, contrast maxillary sinus radiography, contact intraoral radiographs, orthopantomography, computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Results. In 7,9% of cases the presence of odontogenic sinusitis has been established, in 92,1 % rhinogenous sinusitis has been revealed. The work provides information about the effectiveness of various radiation techniques in the diagnosis of odontogenic sinusitis. Conclusion. For suspected odontogenic sinusitis, treatment of choice includes the combined use of X-ray of the paranasal sinuses in the mentoanterior projection and contact intraoral radiographs of «causal teeth». Computer tomography is the most informative additional method to clarify the diagnosis of odontogenic sinusitis.
