Summary: | The rise of « network society » has led to major changes in migration process, concerning to the experience of both emigration and immigration. This article proposes to explore the interaction between migrations and information communication technologies (ICT), in order to assess both their strengths and limits. After briefly introducing the main theoretical approaches, it will examine the impact of ICT on the process of immigrant integration into the host society. Then, the attention will focus on the use of ICT tools in order to reduce the migrant’s social distance from his native country. These different elements lead us to a more critical analysis about migrations and information technologies.
