Summary:The article deals with the life, scientific and pedagogical path of the well-known scientist in the field of plant physiology and microbiology of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Botany and Zoology of the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, Svitlana Vasylivna Pyda. Svitlana Vasylivna was born in the village of Ishkov, Koziv district, Ternopil region, with a family of teachers. She began her education at the Ishkiv eight-year school, and later Ternopil Secondary School#8. In August 1977 she entered the Ternopil State Pedagogical Institute at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, after which she graduated in 1982 with an honors degree. Since July 1982, Svitlana Vasylivna’s work is connected with the Department of Botany and later Botany and Zoology of the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, where she has gone from a laboratory assistant to a professor and head of the department, teaching educational disciplines “Microbiology with the basics of virology”, “Nutrition and productivity of plants”and more. Svitlana Vasylivna began her scientific research out scientific research in graduate school of the National Botanical Garden M. M. Gryshko NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv). The result of scientific research was the successful defense of the PhD thesis “Allelopathic and symbiotic features of lupine at different levels of nitrogen nutrition” on May 26, 1994, specialty 03.00.12 – plant physiology at the specialized scientific council of the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics of NAS of Ukraine. After defending her thesis Pyda S. V. continued her scientific research, which covered a wide range of problems of plant physiology, biochemistry and ecology, microbiology, agriculture, which resulted in successful defense of her doctoral thesis on specialty 03.00.12 – plant physiology “Symbiosis systems physiology Bradyrhizobium sp. (Lupinus) – Lupinus L.: allelopathic analysis” held on June 14, 2007 at the specialized academic council of the Uman State Agrarian University (now Uman National Horticulture University). After receiving the degree of Doctor of Science (November 8, 2007), Svitlana Vasylivna was invited to join the specialized academic council of Uman National University of Horticulture, in which she actively works to this day. During the period of scientific and pedagogical activity, Svitlana Vasylivna Pyda published 342 works, including 4 monographs, 7 utility model patents, articles in professional editions – more than 100, 13 – manuals, 2 of them with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, guidelines – 7, bibliographic index – 1, electronic versions of courses – 2, etc. For significant achievements in the educational field, Svitlana Vasylivna Pyda was elected academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine, awarded with the Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, diplomas and thanks of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National ecological and naturalistic center for student youth, with the badge “Excellent education of Ukraine”, thanks to the Department of Education and Science of Ternopil State Administration, Ternopil National Pedagogical University, Ternopil Regional Municipal Territorial Branch of MAS of Ukraine, Ternopil regional ecological and naturalistic center students and others.
