Summary:"This article summarizes the forms of application, occupation/appropriation, and the transformation of the 6th Avenue in Cúcuta (Colombia). The avenue constitutes a public space that is characterized by being commercially significant, as well as by the various conflicts that have been generated by the informal practices that take place on it. In this article the reader goes on a journey through the relevant literature that talks about the importance of public space within the configuration of the city. The concepts encountered are subsequently counteracted with the reality that can be found on the avenue, which was ascertained through qualitative fieldwork consisting of tools such as participant observation and interview.
