Mammals in conservation areas of the Corporación Autónoma Regional del Quindío, Colombia

We present a list of medium and large mammals occurring in 11 conservation areas of the department of Quindío, Colombia. The field phase was developed in five municipalities, between July and December 2016, and sampling included transect routes and installation of camera traps. We confirm the occurr...

The field phase was developed in five municipalities, between July and December 2016, and sampling included transect routes and installation of camera traps. We confirm the occurrence of 21 species of mammals in the studied areas. The areas with the highest number of species are part of the Reserva Forestal Central or are close to other conservation areas, a situation that could facilitate the connection between reserves through biological corridors. Four of the recorded species are under threat category: Tapirus pinchaque (Endangered), Aotus lemurinus, Leopardus tigrinus and Mazama rufina (Vulnerable). The presence of Leopardus pardalis is highlighted as a new record for the department.http://revistas.humboldt.org.co/index.php/biota/article/view/599Áreas protegidasCámaras trampaLista de especies
