Mobilizing strategies from the sociology of literature, we analyzed lyrics produced by adolescents during these workshops to understand their social content. Results highlight the relationship between social inequality and the restriction of imaginary, the nexus between total institutions and the mutilation of the self, the contribution of fabulation through rap to the reestablishment of the symbolic space necessary to restore the right to the imaginary.https://revistas.ufrj.br/index.php/dilemas/article/view/34393socioeducação, direito à fabulação, desigualdade social, rap, imaginário
