In the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for there to be real and effective development, it is necessary that policies are oriented mainly towards inclusive and sustainable economic growth, poverty reduction, and efficient use of resources , to environmental protection and climate change (World Tourism Organization, 2017). Climate change, considered mainly as the increase in average temperature and the modification of precipitation patterns, represents one of the great challenges for humanity. The consequences on economic activities, population and ecosystems are significant, especially in Latin America due to the socio-economic, institutional and geographical characteristics of the region. The challenge for nations is to design mitigation strategies, bearing in mind that climate change is a negative externality, which is accompanied by a significant level of uncertainty, which drives the debate on ethical aspects, the transmission channels of damage , the economic costs and the best options to face them (Economic Commission for Latin America, 2014). In issue No. 44, six scientific articles are presented, a trend article and two reflections whose themes are framed in the SDGs. The magazine Population and Development presents two scientific articles that refer to the objective Action for the climate , the Voluntary Carbon Market and its socioeconomic impact in the La Amistad neighborhood of the Alto Verá District, Department of Itapúa, Paraguay, Paraguay and Reduction of the use of bags polyethylene: Ecological management alternative in San Lorenzo, Paraguay. Objective 4, Quality Education , presents an article called Organizational Diagnosis in public schools of basic education of the Canton Cañar-Ecuador, to promote its effectiveness. Regarding thematic 5, Gender Equality , a work calledWage discrimination: wage gap between men and women in the Paraguayan labor market. SDG 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure , is analyzed from two manuscripts : Public perception about nuclear technology in Asunción, Paraguay and Evolution of e-commerce in Paraguay and its impact on the validity of legal provisions . Finally, in the area of Reduction of inequalities and Decent Work and economic growth , 3 documents are offered: Inventory, trajectory and semiotics of social capital in Paraguay, Performance and Tax Institutionality in Paraguay and Migration by imitation and economic growth: Case of Chile and Peru.
