Les journalistes français face au « mur » de Cisjordanie: Quelles représentations dans les journaux télévisés de 20h ? (TF1 et France 2, 2002-2007)

This text focuses on the representation of the West Bank wall in 8 o’clock TV news of the two major French television channels: TF1 and France 2. Assuming that the journalistic work is similar to a social shaping of the reality, it tries to cast a light on some of the frames (Goffman, 1991) gathered to represent a particularly polemical construction. What nature do the media speeches reporting on the "wall" give to it ? Are we dealing with a "wall"? a "barrier"? Do their objectives or consequences fall under a type of "separation", "protection", "annexation"? The work presented is based on the study of a compilation of reports and news briefs broadcasted on TF1 and France 2 8 o’clock news, between January 1st, 2002 and December 31st, 2007, which dealt with the wall issues. It begins with an analysis of the use of the word "wall" through a terminological and enunciative analysis of the totality of denominations advanced to name this construction. It presents afterward a review of the composition of the reports selected by identifying the different "scenic areas" (Charaudeau, Lochard, Soulages, 2001) giving their substance.
