Methods: Adolescent patients who received orthodontics in No. 451 Hospital of PLA between May 2014 and April 2017 were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into the observation group who used glass ionomer cement as the bracket material and the control group who used the enamel adhesive as the bracket material. The contents of indexes associated with inflammatory response, apoptosis and collagen metabolism in gingival crevicular fluid were determined before orthodontic treatment and after 1 month of orthodontic treatment. Results: After 1 month of orthodontic treatment, IL-17A, HMGB1, CXCL12, IL-1β, YKL40, Bad, FasL, Caspase-3, hBD3, BMP-7, ICTP, MMP4, MMP5, EA, TIMP1 and TIMP2 contents in gingival crevicular fluid of observation group were not different from those before treatment, and IL- 17A, HMGB1, CXCL12, IL-1β, YKL40, Bad, FasL, Caspase-3, ICTP, MMP4, MMP5 and EA contents in gingival crevicular fluid of control group were higher than those before treatment whereas hBD3, BMP-7, TIMP1 and TIMP2 contents were lower than those before treatment; IL-17A, HMGB1, CXCL12, IL-1β, YKL40, Bad, FasL, Caspase-3, ICTP, MMP4, MMP5 and EA contents in gingival crevicular fluid of observation group after 1 month of orthodontic treatment were lower than those of control group whereas hBD3, BMP-7, TIMP1 and TIMP2 contents were higher than those of control group. Conclusion: Glass ionomer cement foradolescent orthodontics is more effective than enamel adhesive in inhibiting inflammatory response and apoptosis and improving collagen metabolism.http://www.hnykdxxb.com/PDF/201803/38.pdf OrthodonticsGlass ionomer cementInflammatory responseApoptosisCollagen metabolism
