Description
Summary:The article examines the elections in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, held on May 4, 2021. The purpose of the work is to determine how the regional election campaign influenced the balance of power at the national level. In the process of research, the author comes to the conclusion that the main task of the head of the autonomy was the absorption of the liberal party - the main competitor in his own ideological bloc. The task was brilliantly completed, which was reflected in national electoral polls – the opposition Conservative Party bypassed the Spanish Socialist Workers Party, which leads the coalition government. The future of the once highly popular Liberal Party is now very hazy. The failure of the left-populist Unidas Podemos forced its founder, who had recently held the post of vice-chairman of the government, to leave politics. Its further place in national politics will depend on the new leader. Such a significant regrouping of forces may entail even greater political turbulence in the country and ultimately lead to a change in the ruling party.
