Civilizational Transformation of Society: the Value Dimension

The article analyzes factors of social and economic, political and spiritual transformations, which have been taking place in Ukrainian society in recent years. It is noted that Ukrainian society is only at the intermediate stage of meeting the European social and political civilizational standards. Particular attention is paid to the fact that civilizational changes are mainly bound up with content change of normative value model of the world. The comparative analysis of value conceptions about traditional, industrial and post-industrial societies is conducted. It is emphasized that socio-cultural communication as a mechanism of mass value awareness is carried out in the cultural dialogue of epochs, in the interaction of national cultures and sub-cultures, in the open discussion of ideologies, in comparison, opposition and mutual understanding of different value attitudes to the world. The conclusion concerning the role and mission of universities as infrastructure of value awareness formation at the individual, group and general social level is made.
