Summary:In the title compound, [Co(C3H2O4)(C14H12N2)]n, the CoII ion is in a distorted octahedral coordination being chelated by a 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline molecule (dmphen) and two carboxylate groups of two malonate ligands The malonate ligand acts in a bridging mode, forming coordination chains along [100]. π–π stacking interactions between dmphen ligands [interplanar distances = 3.414 (4) and 3.447 (4) Å] organize the coordination polymers into supramolecular double chains.
