Summary:In the Republic of Bashkortostan, besides the indigenous people of the Bashkirs, there are over 100 other different nationalities, who moved to the modern territory at different times. According to the 2010 census, the number of the Belarussians, Mari, Mordvins, Russians, Tatars, Udmurts, Ukrainians and Chuvash is 10000 people. Among the Slavic peoples, the Russians are 1432906, the Ukrainians – 39875, the Belarussians – 11680, the Polish – 504. The resettled peoples preserved the traditional folklore of their ancestors, which was then mixed with local specific features in the new territory. In 2020, the World Folkloriade will be held in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a part of preparation for that being Bashkir Encyclopedia, the State Autonomous Institution of Science, working on “Development of scientific and methodological foundations and preparation of the encyclopedia “Folklore of the peoples of Bashkortostan”. The current accumulated methodological experience in the organization determines the need to concentrate the accumulated scientific knowledge on the subject in order thoroughly study the topic and develop criteria for the inclusion of articles in the encyclopedia. The paper provides a historiographical review of scientific works on the folklore of Slavic peoples in the territory of the Republic of Bashkortostan; it also identifies the main research trends, the leading scholars and researchers of Slavic folklore of Bashkortostan, as well as it reviews some of the methodology features of studying regional folklore. Purpose. To review certain scientific works on Slavic folklore in the Republic of Bashkortostan and summarize the main results of research on the topic for further development of articles inclusion criteria in the encyclopedic edition. Methodology. Scientific and practical methodology is determined by the methods of historical and comparative and systemic analysis of the material. Results. Concentration and scientific generalization of regional folklore information of the acquired scientific knowledge on the subject for the most complete study of the declared topic and development of criteria for inclusion of articles in the encyclopedia. Practical implications. The results of the study will be used in the Folklore of the peoples of Bashkortostan encyclopedia that will serve as a source for further research and will be used to present the current state of folklore of the region during the World Folkloriade in 2020 in Bashkortostan.
