Description
Summary:The aim of present study was to study the effect of low and high dose of oxytetracycline on some biochemical profiles and hematological values in fatting calves. The study comprised 20 animals which were subdivided into two groups according to the dose of oxytetracycline that injected intramuscularly (i.m.). the first group was injected by a low dose of 10 mg/kg body weight (B.W), while the second group with a high dose of 20mg/kg B.W, once a day for sequence 3 days. Blood samples were drawn before injection and after 2,5,12, and 24 hours of injection. Serum glucose, cholesterol urea, and hemoglobin (Hb) levels and packed cell volume (PCV) were measured. There was no significant effects of low dose on all investigations while high dose exhibits a significant effects on all parameters especially on third day of injection. There was a significant decrease in glucose, cholesterol, Hb levels and PCV, and an increase in urea level.
