Summary:Sex is one of the basic characteristics of every living individual. From this biological characteristic form the sex structure of a population. The aim is to analyze changes in sex structure of population in Serbia over a long period of time (including the most recent Census Serbia) and distribution of certain demographic indicators and the structure by sex. The importance of research the sex composition of the population is visible due to the impact on the demographic development of each population due to the impact on the demographic development of each population (the number of marriages, fertility and total and specific mortality by age) and its socio-economic development (over the volume of the labor force, the burden of working contingent, development of certain sectors of activity and social organization of life). Statistical monitoring of the sex composition in recent years is of great importance for the design and implementation of policies aimed at the promotion of equal opportunities of both sexes.
