A centrifugal pump that can be used in a small supply water network or in an irrigation system and a small hydraulic turbine designed for small hydropower plants were tested. Power spectra obtained with the Fast Fourier Transform for the vibrations measured at the pump and at the turbine are presented and discussed and defects that affect the normal operation of the machines are identified.
