| Summary: | This article presents the experience of three American History Professors at the Universidade Federal Fluminense in Brazil. Considering research and lecture as intertwined activities, the article discusses and compares topics in the Colonial history of the 19th and 20th centuries in British and Spanish Americas. The article highlights the seminal work of USP&rsquo;s senior Professor Maria Ligia Prado with her massive contributions in the teaching of the History of the Americas in Brazil.<br>Este artigo apresenta tr&ecirc;s experi&ecirc;ncias de ensino de Hist&oacute;ria das Am&eacute;ricas na Universidade Federal Fluminense. Assumindo pesquisa e ensino como indissoci&aacute;veis, o artigo discute temas de hist&oacute;ria colonial, dos s&eacute;culos XIX e XX das Am&eacute;ricas ib&eacute;rica e inglesa, valorizando abordagens comparativas.
