An example of such a work is the novel Atonement by English writer Ian McEwan (2003), which has been chosen here as the object of our analysis. Consciously inserted within the literary production of the so-called post modernity, Atonement both adopts and challenges, in an apparently paradoxical manner, various conventions, such as realist mimesis and modernist aestheticism, while combining them with some postmodern literary ones, so as to match historical, memoiristic, autobiographic and metafictional discourses in order to create a multifaceted novel which allows reflections upon the relationship between reality and fiction, as it continues the vigorous and ingenious present-day literary production.https://sistemas.uft.edu.br/periodicos/index.php/portodasletras/article/view/2662 |
