El tratamiento de las portadas y las contraportadas en la traducción de un premio Goncourt

This paper aims at analysing the translations of title pages and back covers in the French novel La Vie devant soi by Romain Gary, a book winner of Gon-court literary prize in 1975. Three elements of the title pages are examined: illustrations, title and the author’s name, as well as two elements of the back cover: the kind of information it contains and the plot summary. All the texts show how important the peritext is to present a literary work and persuade the potential readership to become actual readers, although in each one this importance becomes apparent in a different way. Thus, the final aim of the study will be to determine the possible variations between different translations and editions, and to which extent they reveal the point of view adopted by the locutor/editor.
