While taking into account the differences between the two texts, our analysis focuses on the similarities in the presentation of these conflicts. It seems, in particular, that the founding principle of the Double Heart is applied in both Schwob’s and Adam’s tales ; but this passage from terror to pity only partially follows the same path.
