Summary:This article presents a brief historical review of early childhood Education in Brazil with their latest developments. It is noteworthy achievements in legislation. Adresses the challenges to be overcome for the expansion and quality. In the face of limited funding and teacher’formation required to this schooling level uses the methodology of the bibliographic research. We end by pointing out that children education policies adopted in Brazil have arose new process of social exclusion.
