Based on a field research, carried out through questionnaires to senior High School students , and their maths teachers, we wanted to answer the following questions: Why is mathematics one of the most difficult subjects for? How can students and teachers overcome these difficulties if they know what causes them? With a literature review on the topic, we identified some of the causes, such as the training of teachers who work in the initial grades, the influence of family and the methodologies used by mathematics teachers.
