Summary: | In this study, relationships between teachers’ socio-cultural characteristics and their competency with lesson planning, and designing learning environments and materials were examined. This study had a survey design. The questionnaire was administered totally in 16 elementary schools including two private and four public schools in Gaziantep, one private and six public schools in Nizip and three public schools in a village. The number of teachers participated in the study was 159. Collected data were analyzed through SPSS 15.00 for Windows. After data analysis, findings which are statistically significant were presented through tables. According to the results, statistically significant differences were reported in favor of teachers teaching in private schools with smaller class size between 15-20 whose parents have earned higher levels of education and have had higher socioeconomic status.
