Description
Summary:The paper examines the attributive possessive structures attested in 19th century Mauritian Creole. It is first shown that these include a construction with the preposition pou ‘for’, which has not been mentioned in the literature. The situation in Mauritian Creole is then compared to that in Seychelles Creole, a closely related variety. Also discussed are some of the more general implications of the findings.
