Summary: | The history of medicine permeates different times, from its empirical and undervalued initial practice to the scientific and technological development, able to bring doctors, as a professional, to the society’s center. True enough , the interference of historical social changes affected the understanding of the physician's role in communities, specially after public health principles’s emergence, driven by the industrial revolution . This study aims to describe the influence of historical moments in the way physicioans are inserted and valued in society, through a historical review of the scientific literature. |
