Description
Summary:Transcend (origin Latin transcendere = climb) means go beyond or exceed the limits of something abstract, esp. be beyond the range or grasp of human experience, reason, belief etc. Also be above and independence of, esp. of God exist apart from the limitations of the material universe. Surpass, excel or exceed in a special quality or attribute. Adjective transcendent denotes what is surpassing or excelling others of this kind, supreme beyond the range of human experience, reason, belief etc. In scholastic philosophy higher than included in any of ten Aristotle´s categories, in Kantian philosophy something not realizable in experience, in mathematics a transcendental expression is e.g. a non-algebraic function. Adjective transcendental chiefly in Kantian philosophy means presupposed in and necessary to experience, in modern sense superrational, superhuman, supernatural, metaphysical, vague, obscure; esp. in Emersonian thought regarding the divine as the guiding principle in humankind. Transcendentalism is the transcendental philosophy or thought, a system of this, esp. an exalted or visional language, a transcendent quality of character. These features are studied in context of the systems engineering.
