Description
Summary:Based on material kept in Departamento Estadual de Arquivo - DEAP cataloging, we intended to understand what was thought in relation to body's education in primary school in Paraná state, between1882 and 1920. Our research focused the Collection Government Correspondence, which presents a join of 2379 bind volumes (APs). The main analysis focus was the content of reports produced by different school agents. Many of these registers refer to a schooling dimension that we called body's education. Different elements contributed for their building, such as school time and space organization, curriculum building, co-education, and others. So we were pressed by necessity of understanding relations among modernity, corporality and schooling. In this way, we established a dialogue with certain historiography that contemplates works from Thompson, 1981; Ginzburg, 1989; Ragazzini, 2001; Faria Filho, 2000; Souza, 1998; Vago, 2002; Viñao, 1990; Aisenstein, 1999 and others. Attention paid to tensions among discourses, legal formulations and school practices focused on corporality represents a very rich key to schooling process understanding. In a time we dialogue with the catalogued sources, it became clear school agents preoccupation in relation to the importance of school, mainly corporal education and corporality or physic dimensions. In this way, we developed an interpretation that holds corporality as central for graduated school model, which would be the locus of strategies definition that educated the body in order to build a more "civilized" society.
