Description
Summary:The documents produced and received by the Post Office in Lima in the second half of the 18th century are an excellent source of information for the study of the history of writing. These documents provide information on the actual conditions in which people wrote: environment, furniture, stands and utensils used. They provide information on the people who worked in public administration, with their professional levels and hierarchy; and on different social groups and representatives of the various professions, who all left their mark in their contact with the Post Office. And they provide information on the graphic models used by these people, who seemed untouched by the controversy existing in Spain at the time between well-known calligraphers and masters in the art of writing.
