Impact Simulation With an Aircraft Wing Using SPH Bird Model

The work presents an approach to simulate a model bird-strike on an aircraft wing using Lagrange mesh free method in Autodyn. The presented SPH model has been used to simulate a threedimensional impact of the bird with the aircraft wing, at different angles, at a velocity of 262,22m/ s. The bird wa...

Description
Summary:The work presents an approach to simulate a model bird-strike on an aircraft wing using Lagrange mesh free method in Autodyn. The presented SPH model has been used to simulate a threedimensional impact of the bird with the aircraft wing, at different angles, at a velocity of 262,22m/ s. The bird was modeled as a fluid cylinder with two hemispherical ends representing a commonly used shape in the numerical studies of bird strike. The main objective was to identify the safe impact velocities for which the wing is not damaged.
