Summary:<p class="IntResumoepalavras-chave"><span lang="EN-US">The article discusses the documentary filmmaking by indigenous peoples considering the project Video in the Villages. It proposes an incursion in the history of the ethnographic film to investigate the production methods of some filmmakers and identify the principles of this new filmmaking dynamics, in which the participation of the subjects represents a new epistemological attitude. After, it analyses the documentary <em>O manejo da câmera</em>, produced by the indigenous filmmakers of the Kuikuro ethnic group, in the Alto Xingu.</span></p>
