Description
Summary:What if all companies were to be seen as health organization (independently of their domain of application)? Through the case of the national French railway company’s appropriation of a public health norm on psychoactive substances monitoring, we analyze the forms that health takes at work and its effect on the division of labor. We particularly tackle two dimensions: organizational reconfigurations around screening tests and communicational issues of health prevention. The results of this study case reveal that when addressing health issues, organizations cannot be reduced to the logics of profitability or social control. The articulation and negotiation of health representations, communications and actions are key in defining work and worker’s identity.
