Part of a broader project about online deliberation, it focuses discursive flows on YouTube. In order to investigate such processes, the article studies 550 comments to three videos about LGBT rights. This empirical corpus was submitted to a deliberative analysis guided by the following criteria: inclusiveness, reason giving, reciprocity and respect. The analysis suggests the existence of a considerable discussion around the videos analyzed: the participants disclose their positions, justifying them and taking into consideration other perspectives advocated. The results also pointed, nonetheless, to a strong male dominance in the debates and to a significant level of disrespect among participants.http://dx.doi.org/10.21878/compolitica.2014.4.1.118online deliberationLGBT rightsyoutube
